Dr. Jerry Katz MD has over 37 years of experience as a family physician with the special interest in diseases of the skin and cosmetic skin conditions. He has treated hundreds of thousands of patients with various dermatologic conditions over the years. In his first 17 years of medical practice, Dr. Katz worked primarily as a family doctor. Since 1991 he has restricted his busy practice to just diseases of the skin and also non-invasive cosmetic procedures in his aesthetic clinic, Looking Good™ Cosmetic Skin Centre.
Dr. Katz graduated from the University of Manitoba medical school in 1973 at the age of 23. After working for two years at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg at the outpatient emergency department's Primary Health Clinic, Dr. Katz moved to Alberta and started working at the Brentwood Medical Clinic in Sherwood Park in 1976. He worked at that clinic for 3 ½ years and then began a solo practice as a family physician with a special interest in diseases of the skin and cosmetic procedures in 1980. Over the years, other family doctors, including the late Dr. Susan Koilpillai, joined Dr. Katz’s practice as it grew very quickly. In 1991, Dr. Chuck Lortie joined Dr. Katz and took over his family practice. Since then, Dr. Katz has limited his practice to diseases of the skin and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Katz has attended more than 100 dermatological conferences and continues to attend seminars, conferences and workshops on a yearly basis to master new techniques and learn about new products. He originally learned the basics of BOTOX® therapy with Drs. Alistair and Jean Carruthers of Vancouver (pioneers of cosmetic BOTOX®) in 1996. He learned the basics of Collagen injection and tissue filler techniques in 1994 with Dr. Melvin Elson of Nashville, Tennessee, a recognized expert in the area. As new techniques with these two amazing cosmetic tools develop, Dr. Katz continues to update his knowledge and skills by attending conferences and procedural updates both in Canada and the United States.
